GIZ: water resources in Zambia

Water Resources Management and Agricultural Water Management is key to Zambia’s development and commercialisation of its smallholders. To achieve this, there is a need to use innovative tools and activities as advocacy measures.

Through the AWARE programme, GIZ supports the Zambian Water Resources Management Authority (WARMA) to communicate the need for sustainable water resources management and agricultural water use efficiency.

To ensure sustainable, inclusive and successful solutions, it is necessary that different actors work together and collaborate in order to:

• raise awareness among decision-makers and water users about the importance of water resources management in the country.
• position WARMA as the forerunner in fostering sustainable water resources management at the national, decentralised and local level in the sector and the country.
