Delivering on sustainable development is about more than ticking the boxes of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Taking the EU and the world on a sustainable path requires a change of perspective, turning risks into opportunities, and rethinking some of the key systems that underpin the way we live and work.
Where does Europe stand and what are the key challenges and paradoxes it faces? What are the best practices and areas for improvement? Which policies and initiatives are already delivering and where is further action required to implement a shift to a more sustainable socio-economic model?
It follows the publication of the recent European Commission Reflection Paper ‘Towards a Sustainable Europe by 2030’, and will gather leading experts from around the world to discuss how to best translate the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals at European level.
