The Asian Development Bank (ADB) launched a stunning pictorial publication illustrating the depth and expertise of its work in the Pacific islands.
The publication, ADB Operations in the Pacific, profiles dozens of ADB’s most important and successful projects with developing member countries in the subregion.
One of those countries, Fiji, will next week host ADB’s Annual Meeting for the first time.
“This is a beautifully rendered publication that gives a dramatic and vivid visual representation of some of ADB’s most successful work in the Pacific,” said ADB Director General for the Pacific Ms. Carmela Locsin.
“These are projects that are going a long way toward improving the lives of people in the Pacific—from climate-proofed roads to clean water infrastructure, from vaccine programs to expanded internet access. They are projects that are the fruits of the strong relationships ADB enjoys with our development partners as well as our 15 developing member countries in the Pacific.”
ADB is committed to achieving a prosperous, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable Asia and the Pacific, while sustaining its efforts to eradicate extreme poverty. In 2018, it made commitments of new loans and grants amounting to $21.6 billion. Established in 1966, it is owned by 68 members—49 from the region.
