International conference on industrial parks for inclusive and sustainable industrial development in Latin America

In recent decades, industrial parks have made important contributions to the restructuring and development of the global economy, generating jobs and increasing incomes, while fostering sustainable, climate-resilient urbanization and contributing to green growth.

Industrial parks offer the opportunity to address the three dimensions of sustainable development: social equity, economic growth and environmental protection, in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG9 on building resilient infrastructure, promoting sustainable industrialization and fostering innovation.

Over the past three decades, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has been actively contributing to sustained productivity improvements in industries and industrial parks by implementing pilot projects and providing strategic policy advisory services. Viable industrial parks in Peru not only positively impact the country’s productive capacity but have also the potential to strongly contribute to the national overall socioeconomic development and, later on, the socioeconomic development of the broad Latin American region.

In this context, UNIDO, the Ministry of Production of Peru (PRODUCE) and the National Association of Industries (SNI) of Peru are jointly organizing an international conference on “Industrial Parks for Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development”.

The conference is being organized within the framework of the Programme for Country Partnership (PCP) Peru, which has been implemented by PRODUCE and UNIDO since the beginning of 2018 to accelerate inclusive and sustainable industrial development and build a multi-stakeholder partnership led by PRODUCE.

The event will benefit from the presence of UNIDO Director General, LI Yong, as well as high-level representatives of Asian, African and Latin American governments, and representatives of academia, and the public and private sectors. The conference will be a unique opportunity to present a wide range of international experiences on different aspects of industrial parks with the aim of facilitating the exchange of know-how on industrial parks and the future of industry in Latin America and beyond.
