Three steps to improve profile visibility

Do you use the DevelopmentAid platform to market your professional experience and thus secure new consulting opportunities or jobs? Then you will be happy to know that thanks to our platform your profile could be found by over 110,000 organisations working in the global development sector.

You can maximize your chances, by making sure your profile description accurately reflects the best of who you are, and what you have achieved. Follow three simple steps to increase the chances of being discovered by the right connections:

Evaluate your profile and improve the way it is presented

Login into your account, click your Profile logo (located on the top right corner) and go to View Profile. Review how your profile is seen by potential employers and identify areas for improvement, if any, by asking yourself:

  • What do I want people to see on my profile that is not there right now?
  • What message is not being communicated about my skills or achievements?
  • What critical information is missing?
  • What contact details shall I add?
  • Which documents do I want to make available?

Take into consideration a few recommendations from recruiters:

    • Your key qualifications should be listed in the profile description
    • Appropriate sectors of specialization should be selected
    • Valid contact details should be available
    • Your CV should be up to date and show all the latest projects/jobs
    • Attention has to be paid to grammar and spellchecking

Optimize content to be shortlisted more often

Did you know that some companies use software to filter CVs based on the keywords that they DO or DO NOT contain? Imagine you are the recruiter looking for an individual consultant for a certain project. Which keywords would you type in the search box to find the best matching candidates? Those should be the words to be included in your qualifications summary, and throughout your CV. The more relevant keywords that relate to the position in question there are, the higher the chances are that you will make it through the first stage of filtering and as a result get shortlisted. Learn more tips from the recruiters on how you can tailor your CV.

Have your profile featured at the top

Having your profile shown at the top of the search results draws recruiters’ attention and ensures more views. As a regular member, you need to constantly update your profile so that you remain at the top of the list while DevAid Professional members benefit from having their profiles featured at the top of searches all the time, in addition to having a member-label.

Once you’ve followed all the recommendations above, congratulations! Now you have a fully updated profile, and it’s going to be much easier for organisations to find you on the DevelopmentAid platform and offer you a job/consulting opportunity.

But… are you aware that in some cases, when the deadlines for shortlisting candidates are very tight, recruiters don’t always perform searches in any external databases like ours and instead use their internal database to find a candidate? In such a situation, no matter how hard you’ve worked on your CV and profile updates, those organisations won’t see your high-quality profile unless your CV is also added to their internal database.  This is the main reason why we recommend that you send out your CV to all the organisations that work with the sectors of your specialization.

Instead, save your valuable time and use the DevelopmentAid solution to send your CV to all the organisations involved in global development and that are interested in extending their database of consultants. Broadcast your CV now.

You can also join as a Professional Plus Member and receive our CV Broadcast service as a bonus, in addition to having your profile featured and gaining access to exclusive information.

No matter which option you choose, hurry and update your DevelopmentAid profile today.
