A five-day anti-polio campaign began in Quetta, Pishin, Qila Abdullah and Mastung districts of Balochistan amid tight security on Monday.
Health workers and other staff members will cover 127 union councils of the four districts during the campaign.
“Nearly 800,000 children will be administered polio drops,” said Syed Faisal Ahmed, chief coordinator of the provincial emergency operation centre.
Some 3,824 teams are taking part in the drive, of which 3,239 are mobile teams, 371 are for transit points and 214 for fixed sites. Last month, a polio case of an 18-month-old polio boy was reported from the Mehmoodabad union council of Qila Abdullah.
