Based on the data available on DevelopmentAid, we compiled a list with the international development institutions with the largest number of opportunities for individual consultants.
The top ten donors who have uploaded the greatest number of open tenders for individuals are EC, UNDP, ADB, WB, USAID, AfDB, UNICEF, WHO, MCC and UN (Secretariat). This data is based on results from September 2019.
The European Commission (EC) is the executive branch of the European Union, responsible for proposing legislation, implementing decisions, upholding the EU treaties and managing the day-to-day business of the EU. The EC is a large donor, posting up to 10-15 new tenders every day. It is also the donor with the greatest number of tenders posted for individual consultants, mostly in sectors such as information and communication technology, civil engineering and energy.
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the United Nations’ global development network that provides expert advice, training, assistance and grant support to developing countries. UNDP posts up to 15 new tenders daily. According to our platform, it is also the second-largest donor with tenders for individual consultants. Most of the tenders are linked to sectors such as environment and NRM, training and macro-economics and public finance.
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) was conceived in the early 1960s as a financial institution that would be Asian in character and foster economic growth and cooperation in one of the poorest regions in the world. The ADB assists its members and partners by providing loans, technical assistance, grants, and equity investments to promote social and economic development.
