How often are tenders posted and which donors post the largest number of funding opportunities?

Funding opportunities are posted every day by hundreds of international and regional organizations working all over the world. The international development sector is evolving and constantly changing due to the continuous challenges faced by developing countries and the international community. In order to stay on track with the challenges and the process of implementing the development programs, DevelopmentAid elaborates on and provides access to an innovative system of monitoring and intelligence for the international development sector. The platform offers reliable and exact data on the tenders and grants posted every day. This article reveals how often new tenders are posted and which funding agencies post the largest number of funding opportunities.

According to information available on DevelopmentAid, in September 2019 an average of 300 tenders and 25 grants were posted on weekdays from donors and other relevant  organizations. The DevelopmentAid team processed and featured nearly 6000 new tenders and 500 new grants for its clients during this month.

Based on the data available from DevelopmentAid, we have compiled a list of the international development institutions with the largest number of new funding opportunities posted per month.

The World Bank Group

The World Bank is currently the largest and the most active development bank in the world. The bank’s stated mission is to achieve the twin goals of ending extreme poverty and building shared prosperity. With commitments of over USD 60 billion for developing countries in 2019, more than 430 funding opportunities from World Bank were published on DevelopmentAid in the last month.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)

UNDP is one of the most important players in promoting the 17 Sustainable Development Goals across the globe. The organization’s role is to ‘help governments and actors throughout society to power and accelerate their progress towards the Goals, while keeping the global vision intact and on track’. That being said, over 280 new opportunities offered by the donor have been published on DevelopmentAid website

The European Commission (EC)

While the European Commission is the politically independent executive arm of the European Union, it draws up the annual budgets, including the Official Donor Assistance provided by the EU – one of the largest in the world, amounting to over 17 billion in 2018. Based on the information available on the DevelopmentAid platform, the EC publishes over 230 funding opportunities monthly.

Based in Manila, Philippines, since 1960 the Asian Development Bank aims for an Asia and Pacific free from poverty. Over 70% of the development bank’s activity is dedicated to the procurement of consulting services, 18% for the acquisition of works and almost 11% for the buying of goods. ADB posts over 150 funding opportunities per month in order to achieve the organization’s objectives.

The African Development Bank (AfDB)

Sub-Saharan Africa is one of the poorest regions on the planet, attracting a large amount of development assistance from the donor countries. Established in 1963AfDB is a regional multilateral development finance institution with a mandate to further the economic development and social progress of African countries. With over 80 funding opportunities posted monthly, AfDB works with projects related to the acquisition of goods, works, services and grants.

The data collected by DevelopmentAid and presented in the chart above also includes one particular category of data that represents a powerful tool for DevelopmentAid clients – the early intelligence and forecast of future opportunities.

It is no secret that preparing an application for a serious tender or grant requires a great deal of time and effort. The early intelligence data on particular future tender announcements, provided by the DevelopmentAid team, offers an important head start in terms of time and knowledge. If a company possesses information regarding future calls, it has the extra additional amount of time required to analyze the past experiences of the donor in similar projects; to learn about the previous implementing companies and approach these sooner with regard to a partnership. Why doesn’t your company gain an advantage for better project opportunities?

With DevelopmentAid, you can gain access to extended information and details about each funding opportunity, as well as a history of previously run similar calls and projects.
