The number of grant notices decreased slightly in October, DevelopmentAid insider intelligence

Companies, members of DevelopmentAid, had the opportunity to look through over 340 new grant notices in October 2019. This number is slightly lower than that of September when there were 414 new grant opportunities published. In summary, the total number of grant notices processed and included on the DevelopmentAid platform from January to October 2019 has now reached 4129.

The health, human rights, education, environment & NRM and capacity building (training) sectors were among the Top 5 sectors funded by grants in October. At the other end of the scale, the water navigation and ports and shipping sector saw one single grant notice. The majority of grant notices available through our platform are relevant to several sectors at the same time according to Mircea Chiriac, the leading Market Research Analyst at DevelopmentAid.

The United States Department of State is the donor organization that published the largest number of grant notices – 43. It is followed by the European Commision with 42 notices and another 40 notices announced by various governments. The Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation provided only one grant notice in October as did the Asian Development Bank and the Japan International Cooperation System.

The grant notices are always carefully documented and checked by the DevelopmentAid Data Management department before they are entered onto the main database.

“The process of collecting the data for grant notices is very responsible and needs maximum attention and concentration” says Veronica Sandu, Data Management department director. “Our data analysts undertake constant research and are the first to know about grants and funding opportunities. The company has defined five statuses for grant notices: Forecast – Open – Closed – Awarded – Cancelled. Once a certain notice has been entered onto the database, its status is continually updated by our employees. We are dedicated to our work and know exactly the status of each opportunity that has been published on our database”, added Veronica Sandu.

DevelopmentAid offers the exact link to the source of the grant. Common documents provided by donors when publishing a grant notice are application guidelines, application forms, grant agreements, FAQ/Q&A and the estimated budget.
