2020 Development Cooperation Forum

2020 Development Cooperation Forum

The Development Cooperation Forum works to advance the strategic role of development cooperation in achieving the 2030 Agenda and Addis Ababa Action Agenda.

The DCF is the UN platform for action-oriented reviews of the latest trends, progress, and emerging issues in development cooperation, facilitating coherence among diverse actors and activities. It gives special emphasis to adapting development cooperation to better support the needs and priorities of countries and population groups with the least resources and weakest capacities. This shows across DCF-related activities, including the DCF Surveys of progress on the state of play in effectiveness of development cooperation.

Objectives:

  • Adapt development cooperation policies and institutions to the 2030 and Addis Agendas, with a focus on boosting ODA quantity, quality and impact and the role of all relevant forms of development cooperation in strengthening national capacities, including for domestic resource mobilization, data and statistics, and STI.
  • Make development cooperation risk-informed and resilience-smart, with stronger links to climate action.
  • Leverage South-South and triangular cooperation for sustainable development.
  • Enhance private sector engagement and promote its effectiveness in development cooperation, including new financial instruments.
  • Advance monitoring, review and impact assessment of development cooperation for promoting results-focus and mutual accountability, including through the 2019-2020 DCF Survey exercise.
