Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, is home to 5 of Bangldesh’s 700 rivers. Still, depleting groundwater levels mean nearly a third of the city’s population lacks reliable access to water.
Together with the EU, AFD and its partners are financing the Gandharbpur and Saidabad III water treatment plants. The goal? To shift from groundwater to surface water and to provide safe, reliable water sources to the city’s most vulnerable populations.
