A Memorandum of Understanding signed between UNOPS and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ InS) will enable collaboration on sustainable development initiatives in some of the world’s most challenging environments.
“UNOPS is proud to establish a new global partnership with GIZ InS in support of advancing sustainable development and building better futures for people and communities around the world,” said UNOPS Executive Director Grete Faremo.
The agreement will allow UNOPS and GIZ to collaborate on development projects across multiple sectors – including renewable energy, water, waste management, cross-border management, peace and security, health and transportation.
“By joining forces with UNOPS we are able to offer partners an impressive range of skills and resources, based on the mutual goal to improve people’s lives,” said Carsten Schmitz-Hoffmann, Director General of GIZ InS.
GIZ InS provides international cooperation services to advance sustainable and economic development, peace and security. In particular, the organization’s technical knowledge in skills development, community engagement and the provision of social services to support local communities will complement UNOPS own expertise supporting sustainable development initiatives.
