USAID calls for grant applications

 

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), one of the biggest official aid agencies in the world, has announced a range of grant opportunities. The submission of applications is open to developing countries with the aim of supporting the most vulnerable. The amount of grants varies from over US$1 million to US$17 million, depending on the project.

COVID-19 Food Security Challenge in Nigeria

US$3 million in grant funding and technical support is open for Nigeria whose economy has been badly affected by the coronavirus pandemic which has triggered an acute food security crisis.

In this context, USAID launched the COVID-19 Food Security Challenge on April 12, 2021 to support youth-led and mid-stage companies involved in food production, processing, and distribution in order to alleviate food insecurity, according to USAID Mission Director, Anne Patterson.

The grant is open to registered for-profit firms having a local presence in Nigeria. Applications close at 5:00 PM WAT (GMT+1) on May 9, 2021. For more information, visit the USAID/Nigeria COVID-19 Food Security Challenge’s website.

India Partnership for Early Learning Activity

India will benefit from US$17 million funding over a five-year period within the USAID’s India Partnership for Early Learning Activity. The program is designed to improve early learning outcomes via the system strengthening method in two or three states across India. The grant is open to any kind of organization.

Addendum Indonesia

USAID is set to provide US$12 million to Indonesia to improve state self-reliance which predominantly focuses on the areas of economic development, democracy, better governance, environment, and health. The call is placed under the Addendum to the 2020-2022 Global Development Alliance (GDA) Annual Program Statement (APS) No. APS-OAA-21-00001 (the GDA APS). Under this Addendum, the organization plans to collaborate with numerous national and international organizations to catalyze market-based solutions that will contribute to economic growth in the long run. Concept applications will be accepted until November 30, 2021.

Mobilizing Private Capital for the Information and Communications Technology Industry in Emerging Markets

Grants up to a maximum amount of US$1,150,000 will be offered by USAID’s Innovation, Technology and Research Hub for the information and communications technology sector in developing markets under the Digital Connectivity and Cybersecurity Partnership. The Partnership, co-led by the U.S. Department of State and USAID, aims to promote an open, interoperable, safe, and consistent internet worldwide. Applications are open until June 30, 2021.
