Description

The service contract should provide the following information:

  • Establishment of a methodology for the acquisition of coherent and comparable data on management of open sources of radionuclides and radioactive waste in medical establishments in Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Kosovo (as defined by the UNSCR 1244), Montenegro and Serbia;
  • Data collection and analysis in particular on radionuclide inventories, radioactive waste generation and management practices, and discharges into the environment (current situation and planned for the next decade);
  • Identification of main regulatory differences and management practices between these countries;
  • Assessment of the compliance of current regulations and management practices with the acquis on radiation protection;
  • Comparison of the current management practices with the situation existing in a selection of EU Member States;
  • Identification of the areas where improvements would be desirable;
  • Preparation and practical organisation of a technical seminar in which recommendations for possible improvements both on regulatory and management practices should be presented and discussed;
  • Establishment of a possible list of projects which might be supported by IPA in the future.
