Detailed description of the project:

The overall objective of this project was "Contributing to the fight against gender-based violence in the north -west of Tunisia". Violence against women was a violation of human rights: the right to life, safety, dignity, physical integrity and therefore constitutes an obstacle to the development of a democratic society. The intervention was carried out in the governorates of Kef , Beja and Jendouba, among the most marginalized in the country where supported for women victims of violence remained limited and women faced both taboos, standardization of this phenomenon as well as skills shortages and prejudices legal, social or medical institutions to which they should were able to address .
The action was based on a holistic approach that took into account the socio-economic and cultural characteristics of the regions. The objective of this action was to support women victims of violence, as well as create awareness, inform and educate the interested parties and the communities.
The specific objectives or this project were:
- To raise awareness among young people, women and men, media professionals, members of NGOs, educational staff and media professionals specialized on the problem of violence against women.
- To create access to support services to women victims of violence to enable them to lift themselves out of the spiral of violence. Women who suffered from physical, emotional and psychological violence also had to deal with the social and economic impact in their lives, their relationships, productivity and performance at work. For this purpose should have access to services and resources that offer multidisciplinary care. They should also be able to count on the support of competent institutions weak that could not support his specific situation and needs

Services provided by the entity:

CIDEAL was the entity responsible of carrying out the project. It was in charge of the management and the technical and financial coordination. It provided technical assistance in several aspects of the project.
CIDEAL developed the following activities and services
• Training members of NGOs, educational staff and professional media;
• Training of peer educators regional prevention campaign and establishment of a center;
• Training and support staff, counseling, legal and socio-medical;
• Capacity building of staff and services of the 3 regional offices ONFP;
• Study on the determinants of violence;
• Training in self-esteem, sexual and reproductive rights, women's rights, etc;
• Training in project management, financing micro 5;
• Training providers regional Hospitality, detection and support for women victims of violence;
• Awareness of agents and officers of regional forces and internal security services personnel justice on the VFG, boosting coordination among partners
