Contract mining at Telfer Gold Mine

Thiess* delivered a project for Newcrest Mining Ltd, incorporating contract mining at Telfer Gold Mine, one of Australia's largest gold mines. The site is located in the Great Sandy Desert, approximately 450 kilometres east-south-east of Port Hedland, Western Australia. 

Thiess provided mining equipment, operators, maintenance, supervisory personnel, and infrastructure including workshops and offices to the project.

This project was delivered by CPB Contractors (previously known as Leighton Contractors). In 2015 the mining business of CPB Contractors, Leighton Asia and Thiess were merged to the CIMIC Group’s global mining company, Thiess. The expertise demonstrated in this project have been retained within Thiess.
