Project details

Thiess in a joint venture with Decmil Pty Ltd and Kentz Pty Ltd (TDKJV) was awarded a contract to design and construct a construction village on Barrow Island for Chevron Australia Pty Ltd, in Western Australia.

Under the contract, Thiess provided project management, local procurement and construction services for civil and buildings.

The village accommodates as many as 4,000 construction workers involved in the Gorgon Project, a  project to develop the Greater Gorgon gas fields located between 130km and 200km off the north-west coast of Western Australia. The Greater Gorgon gas fields are estimated to contain resources of about 40 trillion cubic feet of gas, Australia's largest known gas resource.

The Gorgon Site Preparation project was also undertaken by Thiess.
