The CET is a modern, state-of-the-art facility with a capacity of up to 30 million tonnes per annum. Thiess’ scope of works included the provision of management and supervision, procurement, manufacture, supply, delivery and construction services. This included the civil, structural and mechanical phases for the following:
- piling for structure foundations
- dump station including dump hopper and control room
- buffer bin
- belt feeder assembly
- conveyor assemblies
- tripper houses
- inbound sampling station and switchroom footing
- transfer houses
- electrical substation footings, and
- stacker reclaimer SR1 & SR2 stockyard ground modules.
Thiess has delivered a first class facility to reduce gridlocks, help boost shipments and export capacity and meet the future requirements of one of Australia’s busiest deep-water ports. It was designed to help increase GDP by $1.5 billion a year, boost exports by $2 billion and generate up to 5000 jobs across NSW.
