Description
Program Title: Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM) Round 7
Description: As a sub-recipient to the National Center for HIV/AIDS, Dermatology and STD (NCHADS), FHI 360 is supporting the government of Cambodia to reduce the spread of HIV transmission among three highly at-risk populations: injecting drug users, men who have sex with men and the transgender community. We do so by:
- Delivering targeted HIV/AIDS education and comprehensive risk reduction services for drug users, men who have sex with men and transgender individuals, including outreach, support groups at drop-in centers linked to HIV/AIDS programs and referrals for voluntary HIV counseling and testing
- Building the capacity of nongovernmental organizations and government to develop and deliver high-quality, effective, evidence-based programming, such as needle and syringe and methadone maintenance treatment programming
In addition, FHI 360 produces “roadshows,” community-wide events for men who have sex with men and transgender people that raise awareness of HIV/AIDS, provide HIV testing and counseling services and aim to increase acceptance of these populations in Cambodia.
