Action title: EU Aid Volunteers for Resilience and Response Capacities of vulnerable communities through the deployment of EU Aid Volunteers
Summary of the action: The EU Aid Volunteers initiative aims to contribute to strengthening the Union's capacity to provide needs-based humanitarian aid aimed at preserving life, preventing and alleviating human suffering and maintaining human dignity and to strengthening the capacity and resilience of vulnerable or disaster-affected communities in third countries, particularly by means of disaster preparedness, disaster risk reduction and by enhancing the link between relief, rehabilitation and development.
The objective of the call is to fund projects involving the selection, preparation and deployment of junior and senior EU Aid Volunteers, apprenticeship for junior volunteers and online volunteering.
The deployment of senior and junior professionals, apprenticeships for junior professionals and online volunteering opportunities shall contribute to:
- Capacity building of vulnerable or disaster-affected communities in third countries;
- Resilience building and disaster risk management in vulnerable, fragile or disaster-affected countries and forgotten crises;
- Disaster prevention, preparedness, disaster risk reduction and recovery from natural and man-made disasters;
- Enhancing the link between relief, rehabilitation and development;
- Support to emergency response operations.
With the call for proposals the Commission and EACEA expect to achieve the following results:
- Selection, recruitment and deployment of 450 EU Aid Volunteers in vulnerable and disaster-affected communities in third countries;
- To achieve synergies and complementarity to EU-funded operations in humanitarian aid, civil protection or development in the respective countries/regions.
- Apprenticeship placements prior to the deployment to 100 junior volunteers in one of the participating EU member states.
- On-line volunteering opportunities in order to support or complement projectactivities.
