Contract Description: Research and Development

Objective and Purpose of the Assignment: The objective of this consultancy is to collect high-quality data by interviewing selected tricycle drivers and TODA and analyze the collected data to draw any implications of financial technologies (fintech) on loan accessibility and on borrowers’ economic status and well-being. The research will also carefully examine questions the impact pathways. Specifically, the study will look at whether fintech increase the number of tricycle drivers with the (fintech-assisted) loans. Second, the enforcement mechanism of the loan and look at a wide range of intermediate outcomes, which are expected to occur, including the following:

  • Cognitive and non-cognitive traits such as self-esteem and self-control;
  • Increased or decreased hours spent on work (labor supply) of each household member;
  • increased income, asset, expenditure, and saving; and
  • increased investment in child(ren) and transfers to other family members.
