Contract No: 070330/2013/659147/SER/ENV.C1
Contract description: The aim of the project is to provide reliable scientific bases and plausible means of methodology for the implementation, the protection and the efficient use of fresh water derived from atmospheric precipitation as well as to support related knowledge transfer and exchange at the different policy development and implementation levels. As part of this project a detailed assessment of effectiveness, costs and benefits of natural water retention measures will be carried out supporting further scenario modelling. The project will further develop and maintain a catalogue of measures and case studies, to be integrated into WISE (Water Information System for Europe) and conduct targeted information and communication events in a representative selection of river basins with operators and stakeholders to foster knowledge exchange for natural water retention measures. Overall the project will contribute to the WFD Common Implementation Strategy and to the 2015 River Basin Management Plans (RBMPs).
