Description

The objective of the Rural Education Project is to improve learning and learning conditions in primary and secondary schools, particularly in rural areas. The project supports six activities, including the development and implementation of learning improvement plans in basic education schools in Issykkul and Talas oblasts. This component aimed to benefit about 150,000 pupils in grades 1-11 and 11,000 teachers in 302 primary and secondary rural and urban schools in these oblasts.

EfC provided the following services through its Consultant, John Wood: (i) development of improved indicators of sub grant programme performance, (ii) analysis of effectiveness of standardised procedures and criteria for the selection of micro projects and making recommendations for their improvement, (iii) assistance with the development of materials on specific implementation activities, (iv) assistance with impact analysis of school learning improvement plans and school report cards on school community based management and school accountability, (v) contribution to progress reports, (vi) assistance with refining the format of and support guide for learning improvement plans, and (vii) assistance to the Project Implementation Unit with implementation as necessary.
