Description

The PRINT programme aims at laying down a sustainable base for coherent regional approach to animal health and production in the SADC region (Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe). The programme overall objective is to contribute to poverty reduction in the SADC region through increased productivity and trade flows in the traditional livestock sector in the SADC Member States. The specific objective is to provide the technical assistance to SADC FANR Directorate for the implementation of PRINT project. Deployed activities aimed at establishing a sustainable accessible and cost effective Livestock Information Management, designing policies and strategies for livestock disease control, production, livestock products safety control, marketing and trade within the SADC region, upgrading regional animal disease diagnostic laboratories in terms of management, equipment and materials and elaborating specific training programmes in the fields of epidemiology, risk assessment and management, cost-efficiency of animal disease control strategies, Sanitary and Phytosanitary Standards for the relevant veterinary laboratories, livestock economics, animal feeding issues, marketing strategies, data quality control to trainers and APH officers.
