Description

PROJECT SUMMARY

The aim of this project is to optimize the existing space in a former breeding factory, in order to maximize young fish production by introducing high-tech processes.
The project proposes an innovative solution of super-intensive farming that makes the most of the height of the existing buildings, allowing for two levels of cultivations to be installed on top of each other.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Project: Project outline and creation of a hatchery in Xove.
    Promoter: Insuiña, S.L.
    Site: Lago beach, Xove, Lugo.
    Project end date: March 2008.
    Total surface area: 2,534 m2.
Main areas: Breeding, incubation, larval production, subsidiary cultivations, nursery, technical area, storage and administration.

PROJECT OUTLINE

To provide the necessary sea water, the project proposes an independent supply network, starting in the oxygenation pool and running to the new facilities.
The existing warehouse, with a surface area of 2,534 square metres, will be modernized and adapted to include specific areas for breeding, incubation, larval production, brine shrimp production, descapsulation, rotifer production, nursery, testing, laboratories, facilities, changing rooms, toilets, offices, meeting room and reception area.
It also includes new network installations for raw water, hot and cold, as well as oxygen and compressed air.
The planned outline will optimize the use of the space, including specific areas for centralizing equipment for filtration and disinfection, air blowers, electrical installations and testing.
The new hatchery will have automated facilities for the storage and distribution of the feed.
The project also provides for solar thermal collectors to be installed that will reduce the energy consumption needed to ensure a stable water temperature.
An intensive and high-tech breeding factory, able to optimize the production of young fish of a species of high added value, which needs specific breeding technology.
