Background
Aim of the project: To initiate investigation on the epidemiology of leptospirosis through implementation of diagnostic facilities and evaluation of rapid tests for both leptospirosis and dengue in Indonesia.
Objectives
Investigation of the leptospirosis epidemiology in the Semarang and Djakarta areas: Hospital based and cohort studies on incidence and prevalence, mortality, morbidity, exploration of variety of clinical features and identification of major circulating serovars and their main host reservoir. Investigation of cytokines and blood clothing factors in haemorrhagic leptospirosis and dengue. Investigation of persistent leptospirosis. Evaluation of rapid assays to discriminate between leptospirosis and dengue.
