Description

The objective established by DID and its partners is to improve governance practices within microfinance institutions, especially savings and credit cooperatives.

To achieve this objective, DID will concentrate mainly on critical issues of governance in order to focus efforts on pertinent and specific targets.  The critical targets that will emerge from the experience acquired by DID will first be validated by the partners which have chosen to take part in the study. DID intends to work on problems such as the application of roles and responsibilities, the monitoring of social and financial performance, reporting, as well as the preparing and articulating of orientations, etc. DID will then test solutions for these problems using structured interventions among administrators and using targeted training associated with toolkits for implementing models for best practices. A model for intervention will be delivered at the end of the project.

This is a research-action project that will include publications and mechanisms for further development.
