School Assessment/Inspections

Cambridge Education supported the Thai Office for National Education Standards and Quality Assessment (ONESQA) with the enhancement of educational quality in Thailand through the provision of trained school assessors nationwide.

Over the past 10 years, the Office for National Education Standards and Quality Assessment (ONESQA) has been implementing a programme of school inspections/assessment to ensure equal standards in schools across Thailand and to improve the quality of education nationally.

Cambridge Education provided teams of trained and experienced assessors to undertake inspections of educational institutions in basic education schools and adult institutions throughout Thailand. The teams were trained by senior staff at Cambridge Education. Using appropriate assessment methods and tools which are in compliance with ONESQA requirements, the assessors provided useful recommendations to the schools to support continuous quality assurance and the enhancement of educational quality. School Evaluation Reports for each school, quality controlled by the Cambridge Education office teams, were submitted to both the schools and ONESQA.

The project has provided these services to over 700 schools in 30 provinces across Thailand. Having assessors based throughout Thailand presented challenges in ensuring that the quality control was completed within the shortest possible timeframe. In order to meet this challenge, Cambridge Education implemented quality control training for personnel based in the provinces, so that these activities could be carried out in a local setting. In addition, inspectors were required to pass an exam in order to be recruited by Cambridge Education, to ensure reports and inspections were of the highest possible standard throughout the country.

ONESQA ranks companies involved in school assessment according to their performance. Cambridge Education was ranked 10 out of the 200 companies that were previously involved in school assessment.
