Contract description: Objective and Purpose of the Assignment

The aim of this assignment is to (i) prepare a comprehensive feasibility study for the modernization of the Ashgabat–Dushak section, comprising all improvements necessary to allow operations of passenger trains at 120 km/h and freight trains at 90 km/h; (ii) assess electrification requirements and system options for the entire TMAT corridor, including impacts on the power supply network, assessing electric system options, maintenance and depot requirements, and rolling stock options; and (iii) prepare a detailed overall road map for the modernization of TMAT at a pre-feasibility level, including infrastructure and institutional improvements for each core railway area and departments.
