Description: Lot 2 – Residential certified Project Management Course, delivered to IKMAA in Erbil.
This Course shall develop the learner’s knowledge of an internationally recognised for the particular project management course from the certifying body Project Management Methodology and their ability to apply Project Management concepts and tools in order to deliver a more effective and efficient Mine Action response for Iraq. Acceptable internationally recognised Project Management Methodologies include, but are not limited to, Project Management Professional (PMP) and Results-Based Management (RBM).
The course will be targeted at members of the IKMAA General Directorates of Mine Action, specifically technical departments such as Explosive Ordnance Risk Education, Quality Assurance and Planning. The course should enhance participants’ ability to contribute to the formulation and implementation of IKMAA’s Annual Plan.
Course design must be conducted in such a way that learners are responsive to the needs of men, women, boys and girls. The Course should focus on practical ways in which participants can use project management in their daily work to ensure systematic and efficient allocation of resources to maximise IKMAA’s priority outcomes under the five pillars of Humanitarian Mine Action.
Competencies include creating clear goals and frameworks for implementation; efficiently allocating funds and resources to priority areas; monitoring, evaluating and communicating progress and results; and, organising Mine Action processes in a transparent and accountable way.
Possible Training Objectives will to some extent be dictated by the certification requirements of the chosen project management methodology. However, additionally they may include the learners being able to:
- Explain how project management tools/techniques can be an effective way to manage and evaluate Iraq’s Mine Action processes in a time-efficient manner.
- Foster a culture for results by applying project management programming principles such as the results framework; performance indicators; developing a Theory of Change; and being able to do so in a gender-responsive manner.
- Design logical, coherent, measurable and time-based goals that could be used to enable improved planning, implementation and reporting in support of common Mine Action processes and structures.
- Use project management to mainstream Gender and Diversity in order to enhance the design and implementation of effective Mine Action processes that is representative of girls, boys, women and men.
