Description

The overall objective of the Asia Urbs Programme was to strengthen EU participation in socio-economic development in Asia. It aims to promote durable links and transfer of know-how between European and Asian local communities, through the support to local government-led partnership projects and joint actions in the fields of: urban management, urban socio-economic development, urban infrastructure and urban environment.

The Programme particularly encourages the involvement of the civil society, the development of public-private partnerships, capacity building (such as through training activities) and the development of networks

The general objectives of the Mid-term Evaluation:

·          To review the progress of the Programme and assess the extent to which the Programme has achieved its objectives.

·          To review the efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability of supported actions as well as their relevance with respect to the Programme’s main objectives.

·          To explore future actions for the Asia Urbs Programme in the framework of its possible extension, including, if appropriate, new areas of co-operation between the EU and Asia in the urban sector.
