Description

Project title: End Term Evaluation for DANIDA SPA

Name of legal entity providing references: WWF Kenya

Detailed project description: WWF has been active in the Coastal Region for almost 25 years working on the conservation and sustainable use of marine and terrestrial resources, responding to increasing pressures in the region. During this period, WWF has supported the establishment and management of marine and terrestrial protected areas; facilitated co-management systems for fisheries, developed and implemented management plans for resources and specific sites; contributed to improved livelihoods; and supported natural resource policy development with funding from various donors.

The Programme cultivated partnerships at community, national and international levels. The partners and stakeholders included government ministries, semi-autonomous government agencies, county and local governments, private sector, non-governmental (public benefits) organizations, civil society networks, research institutes and local resource user and community groups.

Detailed description of the assignment: The main purpose of undertaking the end of term evaluation for the Danida SPA was to provide WWF Kenya, WWF Denmark and the broader programme stakeholders with an independent assessment of the programme – exploring the impacts, achievements, challenges, lessons learnt and how these contributed to the overall programme goal. This evaluation process also served as a guide to WWF Kenya and WWF Denmark in the design of similar programmes in the future and contribute to organizational learning.

The evaluation process was participatory involving stakeholders’ engagement process which was crucial in informing the programme on areas to improve in future programming. Additionally, the process formed part of WWF’s work to ensure accountability. The evaluation document was also to be circulated to all programme partners, not only to share the lessons but also to share results and approaches to realized targeted programme deliverables.
