Objective: The Odessa International Film Festival (OIFF) is an audience film festival founded with a mission to ensure access to high quality films (international and national) for wide audiences in Ukraine, to support continuous growth of Ukrainian film industry and to increase film literacy. OIFF is the biggest film event in Ukraine and one of the biggest in terms of number of admissions in Eastern Europe. OIFF proved being one of the most important film festivals in Eastern European Partnership countries, bringing together all key representatives of mentioned territories for solid debate and networking opportunities. It was founded in 2010, having its 13th and 14th edition in 2022 and 2023, and getting more than 135,000 admissions each year since 2012. Odesa IFF proved to be sustainable even during the toughest times for Ukraine at beginning of the revolution in 2013, war in the East from 2014 and Global Covid-19 Pandemic in 2020-2021 . While gunshots were heard in our cities, OIFF was serving its cultural mission and providing artists and filmmakers with a hotspot for supporting each other and making their voices heard. The 13th and 14th OIFF edition will take place in mid July 2022 – 2023 (nine days). It will include three competition sections (International, National and European documentary competitions) and several non-competition sections such as Potemkin stairs open-air screening (the main highlight of OIFF, drawing more than 15,000 viewers), retrospectives of world cinema (example of past years’ retrospectives: Agnieszka Holland, Naomi Kawase, Christian Petzold, Stephen Frears, Claudia Cardinale, Peter Greenaway) and national retrospectives, Gala premieres, Festival of Festivals (films awarded at significant international film festivals), Children’s programme ChildrenKinofest and special events and screenings.
