Objective: The CICAE “Arthouse Cinema Training and Mentoring Programme” (ACT) is the evolution of the until now called “Art Cinema = Action + Management” programme, an international residential training programme for arthouse exhibitors, taking place in Venice. With ACT the junior and executive training will be divided: a one-week intensive residential training in Venice for 35 junior trainees who will take part in the workshop “Re-Start your cinema” and which programme will cover essential topics related to the 360° of arthouse exhibition; and a mentoring programme for 15 executives throughout 7 months, who will follow one of the 3 lines of development (Be Diverse: diversity in film programming and film circulation; Be green: green cinema development; Be Innovative: new business models and innovative projects), in smaller group of 5, together with their mentors at partner festivals with group presentations involving also regional exhibitors. During the Venice Film Festival, all the juniors and executives will meet for joint sessions, international networking, during which the executive trainees will also present to their peers the evolution of their projects. The training programme will have in its component a residential training, workshops, online and offline individual and group mentoring sessions. Confirmed partner festivals for the mentoring programme are: Berlinale, Sevilla, Sarajevo. Developing relations between ACT, the local exhibitors and film industries in different European areas through different festivals is a way to widen the reach of the course and create more access in different regions. ACT aims at supporting arthouse exhibitors in their core challenges, offering knowledge about day-to-day operations and best practices, with an added focus on the evolution of the market and a mentoring programme for executive trainees developing new projects about green cinema, new programming techniques involving diversity and film circulation or innovative business models.
