Objective

Participation in Activity 1 of the Data collection for City and Subnational Statistics Grant will contribute to the development of new and consolidation of existing data sources which will form the basis for cognizant and tailored EU policies at the levels of the cities and functional urban areas. The aim of these policies is to redress the highly evident territorial differences that exist across the European Union. This activity is expected to improve city statistics data collection at national level and produce related statistical outputs according to ESS standards (datasets, metadata files, etc.). The overall objectives of the project include:
1. Analysis of the national methodologies and data sources and ensuring their compatibility with the methodological manual and ESS guidelines;
2. Collection, compilation, validation and utilisation of statistics for different spatial units for reference years 2021 and 2022; and
3. Provision of metadata which will include a comprehensive account of the data sources and methodology used when compiling the requested variables.
