Objective: The project "New building blocks of the Bologna Process: fundamental values (NewFAV)" aims to support the implementation of the Bologna Process commitments, in line with the Rome Communiqué and contribute to the BFUG Fundamental Values Working Group, by proposing a set of indicators on monitoring and assessment of fundamental values, while also exploring the contribution of micro-credentials to social inclusions. The fundamental values component will start with mapping of existing indicators at international level, to have a clearer picture of the status quo in this area. The experts involved will analyse the extent to which existing indicators can be integrated and used at EHEA level. A technical framework to measure and assess fundamental values will be developed, and the resulting indicators will be piloted in four European countries. This approach should provide technical support for the BFUG Fundamental Values Working Group. An Advisory Board, consisting of the Co-Chairs of the Fundamental Values WG, will be established, to oversee the development, assessment and piloting of specific indicators and link the project with specific tasks and activities within the Working Group. A number of international and national experts will also be involved, providing their expertise at all relevant project stages. Another project component will consider the specific recommendations in the Paris and Rome Communiqués and analyse the concept of micro-credentials, especially from the perspective of contributing to the principle of social inclusion, while addressing the public responsibility of higher education. The project will include consultation events with relevant stakeholders, events with international participation and peer learning activities, contributing to extensive dissemination of results. The main findings will also be presented in the 2023 edition of the Future of Higher Education – Bologna Process Researchers’ Conference, organized by the project coordinator.
