The Bokaa Dam was installed in order to collect the rainwater carried by the Metsemotlhaba river in a stemming of approx 18.5 million cubic meters.

Works comprised the construction of a dam comprising a zoned earthfill embankment 1.000m in length with an impervious core in clayey material, a concrete spillway 750m in length, a concrete pumping station between the earthfill embankment and the spillway, 20m in height and 15.5m wide and a 70m outlet channel.
