Objective:
We chose to call our project "Dialogue Européen" (European Dialogue)" in order to try to find answers to ever more urging questions and challenges to which Europe is being confronted, questions, to which coherent and true, sustainable answers and solutions may be given only if we find a common point of reference, which is the case of our project and the partners involved in this citizen's meeting. The benchmark in what concerns the involved partners is the common historical experience: each and every community involved in this project. Also, peaceful cultural, religious and ethnic cohabitation is part of the everyday life in each community, with the exception of our invited partner from Ukraine, Palad'-Komarivtsi, where ethnic conflicts have been recently used as pretext for sparking war. This is the context on which the objectives of our project become possible: raising awareness of common history and values in Europe of its peoples by stimulating debate, reflection on the future of Europe, finding answers to the ever more serious immigration crisis within the EU, discussing about the unfolding crisis within some EU member countries where even the EU membership seems to be put in question or an open minded dialogue about solidarity in times of crisis. In particular, with regard to the raging war in the neighbouring Ukraine, there is a need to deepen further the discussion on the future of Europe on what kind of Europe citizens want. How to raise the awareness of the population, our community about the advantages of being part of the European Union? By learning lessons from history: remember the price our societies paid for being divided throughout history, by pointing out the concrete achievements of the EU. The activities and debates of our project will be built on these two main ideas taking pain to reach out to reach out to the "eurosceptic" citizens of our community.
