Objective:
According to the World Health Organisation, every 3rd child at the age of 11 is overweight and over 50% of people are overweight or obese. The HERA Project wants to tackle overweight and obesity in rugby clubs. The main objective of the HERA Project is to enable transformation and change of three rugby clubs (participating organisations) towards HEPA rugby approach. To be able to contribute to the this objective, participating organisations need to improve the institutional and coaching capacities and practices in the field of HEPA to become accessible and attractive to children and youth at risk of health problems (obesity). The specific objectives of the HERA Project is to improve the institutional and coaching capacities and practices in the field of HEPA to become accessible and attractive to children and youth at risk of health problems (obesity). The target groups are: members of staff in management, governance and coaching positions, overweight and obese players in participating organisations and children and youth (under the age of 16) at risk of health problems (due to excess weight or obesity). The main outcome of the HERA Project is an increase in the knowledge about the potential of rugby clubs to promote a healthy lifestyle through HERA Programmes. This will be achieved through one work package: Improving institutional and coaching capacities and practices of participating rugby clubs under which will be implemented five tasks: 0) Coordination and managing the HERA Project, 1) Developing the HERA Action Plans, 2) Developing the HERA Programme, 3) Organising the HERA Camps and 4) Organising the HERA Workshops. Main deliverables of the project are: 1) Elaborated the HERA Action plan (3), 2) Developed and tested the HERA Programme, 3) Organised HERA Camps (3), 4) Organised HERA Workshops (3). The expected project results will significantly and continuously contribute to the participating organisations in promoting HERA in local community.
