Objective: The agri-food sector is facing several challenges related to the transformation of food systems. Challenges that have been incremented by the Covid-19 pandemic and its lockdown measures, which have heavily impacted the HoReCa and tourism sector, but also the food industry and agricultural sectors. Thus, a sustainable recovery will be needed in the years to come. FoodDrinkEurope, the employers umbrella organisation for the Food Industry in Europe, and EFFAT (European Federation of Food, Agriculture and Tourism Trade Unions), the European trade union organisation, aim to research the impact that the current pandemic Covid-19 have had in the food sector, whilst strengthening the social dialogue in Europe. This shall be performed in the context of the work programme of the European social dialogue, having in mind a sustainable recovery where the EU strategies ‘Farm to Fork’, the development of the adequate skills, and the European Pillar of Social Rights, are considered. The project shall deliver insights from the national and European perspectives and a set of recommendations for the sustainable recovery of the food sector. This will be achieved through a report, prepared by experts through desk research and interviews and workshops with the membership.
