Objective:
EU-SILC is the EU reference source for comparative statistics on income and living conditions at the European level. The data are used for several poverty and other indicators. The indicators are important for social policymaking and additionally for combating social exclusion. Variables about the Labour market and housing, Intergenerational transmission of advantages and disadvantages, Housing difficulties, and ad hoc subject on Households' energy efficiency of life will additionally highlight the living conditions of people. The data can be used for policy on Labour Market, Housing, and Energy efficiency. In the year 2024, topics for the ad hoc module are the module on ‘children’ (children’s material deprivation and children’s health) and the 6-yearly module on access to services. As SURS worked under several EU-SILC grants, we got different solutions for preparing the questionnaire. It was made a large step forward by cognitive testing, which became obligatory for all new or changed questions in the survey. It was introduced that cognitive testing cooperates with persons outside of SURS who do not know statistical processes and the topic. This is important, because from those persons we really see, if the person understands the question or not. Ad hoc module 2023 will be implemented according to the regulation. It will provide new data about topics collected several years ago –Intergenerational transmission of disadvantages (2005, 2011, and 2019). and along with a new policy need module - Energy efficiency/poverty and topic about Housing difficulties. Some variables about the labour market and housing were collected as nucleus variables until 2020, but the majority of these variables were never cognitive tested as they were introduced in SILC 2005. These data will additionally highlight the living conditions of the persons. The data will be comparable with all countries where EU-SILC is conducted (all MS and some other countries).
