Description

Ordering Organization: Greenfiend.

The project aims to resolve the serious traffic problems that have resulted from the sudden formation and population concentration in the outskirts south of Seoul Metropolitan Area in Suwon and Yongin Cities. The route begins from Bundang New Town, and passes Giheung, Singal, Yeongtong, Suwon City Hall and Suwon Station on its way to Ori. Total length is 17.8 km, and the double tracked Ori - Suwon section was promoted together with the Gyeonggi Province traffic network improvement project. In this project, Sambo Engineering performed basic design from September 2000 to October 2001, and detailed design for Lot 2 (Giheung - Sanggal) from December 2001 to December 2003. Total length of Lot 2 was 2.44 km, including 2 stations (Giheung, Sanggal), and 5 railroad switches. The works also included excavation works for the underground section, as well as widening of the tunnel. In particular, construction of Giheung Station in passing over Osan River was planned in stages. The detailed design was modified between June and July of 2006 due to the delay of Green Cross Corporation moving its Giheung factory.
