Description
Client: GOSL - Ministry of Econmic Affairs, Economic Planning & National Development.
Technical assistance to the Sustainable Development and Environment Unit of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Environment on the implementation of Saint Lucia’s National Energy Policy (NEP). Tasks include development of a long term sustainable energy strategy, revision and updating of the Electricity Supply Act in accordance with the NEP, including liberalisation of the electricity sector, developing a blueprint for an energy regulatory authority and developing a long term energy education and awareness strategy and implementation of a short term plan.
Description of Services Provided:
PPA Energy is providing the overall leadership and management of the project, development of energy strategy, including the required institutional reforms to encourage the development of renewable energy projects in Saint Lucia. PPA Energy is working with the legal specialist on a review and the Electricity Supply Act and is responsible for the work on the energy regulatory authority and assisting the client in drafting of policy and legislative documents. PPA Energy, together with the regional renewable energy/energy efficiency expert, is responsible for developing a strategy to encourage the development of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects to reduce Saint Lucia’s dependence on imported oil.
