Objective:
Alfa Pictures is a medium-sized company that distributes films in the territory of Spain. Since the company was founded, we have always given absolute priority to the distribution of European films, being the main part of our catalogue. Our acquisitions cover various genres (comedies, drama, thriller, even some horror movies) but we always look for them to have a balance between quality, but also attractive to a wide audience. We are convinced that excellent cinema is made in Europe, but media and social pressure often leads viewers to choose other options. Thus, the European audiovisual sector and, in particular, film distribution, is facing difficult challenges in the coming months, with the abandonment of cinemas in Spain by the 30+ year-old public, which was the usual viewer of European movies. The request for this call is to consolidate our commitment to European cinema and obtain the instruments so that we can maintain this commitment. In the following forms, you will be able to see the strategy that we're going to present in the next months. Thus, a part of the help that we obtain is going to be allocated to investment in minimum guarantees. Spain is a very competitive territory, with numerous distributors whose acquisitions are in line with those we make at Alfa Pictures, especially films from France, Italy, Germany, but also other European countries. Notwithstanding, it is also essential to dedicate a part of this aid to the promotion and publicity of the films. To give just one example, in the past, the press reported film premieres on Fridays, including European films. However, since few months ago, most of the space in the culture news section (whether on television, in the written press or on the Internet) has been devoted to reporting the latest releases (films or TV series) on the platforms. The only way for us to counteract this gap is to increase our investment in advertising as it is essential that the public knows about the films.
