Objective:

The 2022 HMF slate consists of three original documentaries and two socially critical series, combining the talents and experience of emerging
filmmakers from Central Europe and Ukraine. Marathon by multi award-winning Peter Kerekes is an innovative and creative documentary about the
oldest marathon in Europe throughout a hundred years of social and political change. The director is known for his playful approach and his ability
to spin historical themes with lightness and sweet humor through moments of tragedy and those of supreme happiness with Milan Kundera's ease.
The Drained Sea by Ivona Novomestska Remundova is a story of a primordial sea that was forced to give way to a greedy business project in the
nineteenth century. It is unclear what it reminds us of more, dystopian movies or the reality of our contemporary life. The film’s strength lies in its
focus on one family’s dialogue between generations, a family that has seen the fall of serfdom, times of freedom, but also a more novel, hot and
above all super-dry era. My Father Kutuzov is an intimate portrait of the love between a daughter and a father when the two protagonists are
dramatically separated, perhaps for a protracted time, as the tragedy that has stricken Ukraine hits the Kutuzov family with its full force. Exit Only is
a dystopian miniseries by Timo Novotny that uses the power of cinematic imagery to examine the need to stop the plundering of the Earth before
humanity reaches the point of no return and plunges into catastrophe. Neighborhood Gatekeepers is an original series by Filip Remunda that
brings a whole new perspective to architecture and urban planning.
