Coordination of Safety and Health Protection for the reconstruction of the glass factory Kipfenberg

In the course of the "high-tech-campaign" of Bavaria, the SGD Glashüttenwerke Kipfenberg GmbH expand their production unit with an energy-saving glass melter for the production of medical glass. The extension and reconstruction takes place close to the existing production units. As the production is not stopped during the construction works, these are especially dangerous. For such case, the German legislation stipulates that a "Safety and Health Plan" (SiGe-Plan) has to be prepared and the presence of a Safety and Health Coordinator is necessary. These tasks were assigned to KOCKS Consult.

On the basis of the planned construction schedule and the works to accomplish, a safety and health plan was prepared in close cooperation with the public trade supervision of Munich. It was then explained to all personnel working on the construction site.
During the execution of the construction works, SGC Kipfenberg GmbH as owner confers the tasks of the safety and health coordinator (SiGeKo) on KOCKS Consult.
The main focus is the coordination and the application of the general principles of § 4 of the German Labour Protection Law and of the special concerns of the client regarding safety and health protection for all personnel working on the site at the same time.
A special challenge for the coordination is the proximity of construction site and production unit. Thus, the concerns of the operation are integrated into the safety and health coordination.
