Objective :
The European Centre for Workers’ Question (EZA) is a non-profit organisation with 70 member organisations (trade unions, educational and scientific institutes, socio-cultural workers’ organisations) in 29 European countries. Our philosophy is based on the principles of Christian social doctrine: human dignity, solidarity, subsidiarity and sustainability. A particular emphasis of our work is put on combatting social problems affecting workers and disadvantaged population groups and promoting social dialogue. In this regard, EZA shares general objectives with the European Commission (Articles 152-155 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union). EZA aims to achieve these objectives through educational work, research and capacity building on a European level. Our educational programme 2023/24 addresses the priorities of European social dialogue by supporting key EU initiatives in social and employment policies and involves workers’ organisations in European governance. The topics addressed include the European Pillar of Social Rights, the European Recovery Plan, the Twin Transition (the European Green Deal and the ongoing digital transformation in the world of work), the Union of Equality, the European Skills Agenda, safety and health at work as well as the integration in the labour market. A special project for workers’ organisations in the Western Balkans is carried through. As our target group are multipliers in workers’ organisations, our activities enable European collaboration and synergies and aim at imparting knowledge, sharing experience, networking active players and disseminating findings. Recommendations for action are drawn up and subsequently published for an even larger outreach (website, publications, newsletter, Podcast, etc.). EZA’s work is certified in accordance with ISO standard 9001:2015. Regular recertification guarantees the external monitoring of the quality management process including the evaluation of our educational programme.
