Type of action: SOCPL Project Grants

Project ID: 101102418

Objective:

The G.E.A.R. Project, Green Economy As Resource, aims to improve the workers' conditions through the introduction of working models based on the Green and Circular Economy, to promote higher labour standards and, as a result, healthier and longer lives. The project aims to achieve the objectives set out in Articles 154 and 155 TFEU by promoting the European Social Dialogue through moments of meeting and exchange between trade unions, workers and employers, to encourage local and European actors for sustainable change. G.E.A.R. is inspired by Von der Leyen’s Green Deal, the European Pillar of Social Rights, and the New Circular Economy Action Plan. It intends to involve employers and skilled workers as an active part of the process: with their input and actions, they will develop a policy recommendation for a Green Economy model in companies and, at the same time, benefit from the change itself through the shift from a traditional type of company to a greener one. The project intends to promote social dialogue at the level of the manufacturing sector in the Campania Region, Italy, with particular regard to the engineering, agro-food and chemical-textile-fashion sectors, which represent the productive "core" of our region, in order to contribute to creating a synergistic network that responds to the needs in the fields of employment and politics and social cohesion, strengthening the capacities of impact in the socio-economic fabric of the social partners in association with the cross-sectoral counterparts of the EU, with an equal experiential level, through opportunities related to the environmental and digital transition. The project shall reflect on how the circular and green economy can change the labour market, promoting the modernization and updating the labor market to the real territorial needs, by organizing dedicated thematic seminars and workshops to raise awareness and propose viable solutions.
