RRRSDP is financed by GON, ADB, DFID and OFID to improve the connectivity, enhance economic and employment opportunities, increased access to market and social services of rural communities of the project candidate districts (38 districts of Nepal).

The main objective of the proposed consultancy services is to assist Central Implementing Agencies, DoLIDAR/PCU, and District Implementing Agencies DDC/VDC, DTO, DPO/DIST, for efficient and effective managerial and technical support in the implementation the Project for enhancing the managerial and technical capability of the related institutions and stakeholders. The major components of the projects in which the CISC involved as the Project Management Consultants are as follows: i) Component 1: Rural Roads- The Project will improve and upgrade an estimated 860 km of rural roads in 20 core districts. In addition, the project will include about 50 motorable bridges with an estimated cumulative length in excess of 1,200m.. ii) Component 2: Supplementary Infrastructure- The Project will complement the rural road improvements by constructing and rehabilitating 1360 community demand-driven supplementary infrastructures such as social and market facilities, school infrastructure, micro-irrigation, foot trails inclusive of 130 trail bridges in 20 core district and 591 rural water supply and sanitation (RWSS) schemes in 38 districts. iii) Component 3: Community Empowerment- inclusion of the poor and disadvantaged population into the mainstream of development through capacity building and increase participation which included awareness building, providing opportunities, organizing Building Groups etc iv) Component iv: Institutional Capacity Development -Sub-component A -Strengthening Implementation and O&M: Sub-component B- Enhancing Fiduciary Management and Social Safeguard compliance, Sub-Component C – Donor Harmonisation.

Rural water supply and sanitation project includes design review, design, monitoring and supervision of all schemes which included transmission main, distribution pipeline, reservoir and all other water supply and sanitation components with pipe size 20 to 150 mm, GI and HDPE. Project also served the densely populated terai village of Nepal.

Total Project Cost – US$ 106.8 Millions (Cost for Road: US$ 63.5 Millions; Cost for Water Supply – US$ 17.5 Millions; Cost for Motorable/Trail Bridges, Primary School Buildings, Health Post etc. US$ 8.8 Millions).

Total Population Served – i) Constructing and maintaining over 50 rural roads in 20 districts throughout Nepal with a total population of 8.5 million; ii) The Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RWSS) Component will provide drinking water directly to a population of 6,00,000 spread across 38 districts.
