Project title: Fund for the Promotion of Innovation in Agriculture (i4Ag)
Description: The contractor will implement the business model for an innovative compost service focused on the mango value chain in the western part of Burkina Faso, in the corridor between Bobo Dioulasso and Banfora. The contractor will be responsible for the planning, implementation, training, procurement and evaluation of the activities, the necessary capacity development and coaching as well as networking with private sector companies in the mango sector, organised under a common business platform or association, in order to ensure integration in value chains and access to market and finance, including a matching grant, for the new compost service providers.
The objective of the mission is the training of 150 rural youth in compost production and selling, the setup of 15 compost service businesses and the production of 5.000 tons of organic, locally produced compost until December 2022, with the potential to increase up to 10.000 tons with the full season 2023. Each compost service company will be based on 10 persons working as a group, so the expected employment effect is 150 new jobs (part-time or full time) created by 12/2022. The compost service will be run by rural youth (at least 80%; at least 40% women), between the age of 15 and 35 years.
